For The Love Of Chaos 7

During the next two days, everyone was preparing for the new arrival of Sonic's first born child.

"What if they come here? What should we do?" Scourge wondered.

"If they come here, we must vanish without a trace. I will not go back to that place and allow them to take our baby," Sonic growled. He then changes the topic for a brief moment.

"My…my mother came to me in my dream last night…She told me that in three months, I will bear my offspring…If the pregnancy is accelerated, then I will have to wait till my body tells me that its time," he added. Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Back to our discussion," he continued. "We must find a second place to hide till either me or Shadow can sense that they have left here. The cocoon will be too much trouble, because they already know that I am fully grown now."

"I'll work on that," Manic suggested. "You can count on me, boss."

"Thank you, Manic, now hurry…find our new hiding place quickly," said Sonic. Manic leaves the group to find the second location to hide for the others.

As the days pass and a new hiding place was finally established, all thanks to Manic's hard efforts. The group was astonished by the progression of the pregnancy. Now in month two, Sonic appeared to be precisely five months pregnant. Now garbed in sweat pants and a black, very loosely fitting shirt, The Blue Blur gazes out to the stars.

"Sonikuu...How are you feeling?" asked Shadow as he approached his mate.

"A little tired, but otherwise okay. I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure we're going to be alright. I can...I can feel it moving inside me sometimes," he smiled. In a liquid flutter inside its mother (hey i rhymed!!), the unborn pup kicks on the left top side of his abdomen.

"Oh...It's kicking. Shadow, come here," Sonic smiled, excited from this stage of quickening. Shadow walks to his blue furred mate and placed his right hand on Sonic's belly. The ebony male could feel each movement the baby made from within his wife and was rendered speechless.

"Wow...heh, he's really active in there, isn't he?" he chuckled, hoping he would have a son. The Dregs soon arrive to check on their lord, noticing the scene almost immediately.

"Ooh, is the baby kicking? I wanna feel," Sonia said excitedly.

"Yeah, it is," Sonic smiled, "all of you guys, come here, I want you to feel it." Sonia removes her left handed glove and felt around on the male's swollen abdomen; till she felt the baby giving a kick inside of its mother. When they saw their sister smile, Manic and Scourge soon join in.

"We could all be one big family right here, don't you think?" Shadow smiled, looking into his mate's emerald eyes. His uke smiles to the comment. Everyone then gave a light group hug to Sonic and the unborn baby.

Midnight rolls forward with the silver full moon looming over the land from the sky. Shadow stayed with his pregnant mate, making sure he and the baby were doing alright. As the ebony male turned to reach for his wife in his sleep, he felt that he wasn't there. Immediately, he woke up.

"Sonic?" Shadow whispered. Slowly opening his eyes, he spots Sonic sitting in a chair. The cobalt male stares into the midnight sky, singing a melody to his unborn child. Shadow relaxed and got up, puzzled as to why Sonic wasn't in bed sleeping and why he was sitting over there.

"Sonikuu...Shouldn't you be sleeping right now?" he asked.

"I can't sleep...I'm so anxious about the upcoming birth that I'm trying my best to calm down," he smiled, ceasing his song. Shadow understood his mate's fears, knowing all too well that this was his very first pregnancy. Trying his best to be sensitive on this matter, Shadow stood right next to him and did his best to soothe his fears.

"You're not going through this alone, love. I'm here; the Dregs are here…we're all here to help you through this delicate process. I won't leave your side when you go into labor. I'll stay with you to the very end," he assured him. The Blue Blur smiles in relief; then began to get up.

"Here...Let me help you," Shadow offered, carefully helping Sonic onto his feet. The two then got ready for bed. Sonic lay down on his back; till he felt a fluttery movement inside his belly.

"Heh...It's moving again," he smiled. Shadow reacts and places his right hand on his mate's swollen stomach. Sonic places his left hand on his and moves it to where the movement was located, "There...Can you feel it?" he asked.

"I can feel him. I guess he's reacting to your song earlier…Go ahead and sing, I want to hear it," said his husband.

He nods and begins his song again:

While the ebony's hand was still on his mate's belly, the pup reacts to the song, immediately calming to the sound of its mother's voice. After a few moments of singing, Sonic is immediately calmed and lies down to sleep.

"If you need anything, let me know okay?" Shadow said.

"What if you're asleep?" Sonic yawned. "If I'm asleep, don't be afraid to wake me, alright? Good night, Sonikuu," said Shadow, giving his wife a small kiss on his cheek.

"Good night, Shadow," answered his mate. The two fall asleep together, side by side in comfort.

The birth of the new baby is fast approaching in one more month, will the soldiers arrive too early or too late? Only time will tell for them in the upcoming month.

(I sound like a friggin' Dragonball Z announcer...)
