Our Kingdom - Sonourge - 6

A new dawn slowly grew over the horizon, flowers bloomed as the spring had finally begun, and one hedgehog was living in heaven. Scourge was walking through the castle halls, just returning from reading the latest war reports.And inside their bedroom, the king's beloved mate now sat waiting for him to return. Scourge had promised him that they would spend the rest of the evening together once he was done with his meetings. Sonic no longer wore the rags that were slaves' clothing; he wore the same silks and robes as his husband and Scourge was happy n proud to say that they looked good on his uke!The King entered their room, his mate reading a book, and took a seat on his side of the bed. He pulled Sonic into a gentle embrace.

"Evening Love."

"Evening," Sonic smiled before his mate pulled him into a kiss. "Glad to have you back."

"Old Max is defiantly putting up a fight. The front line has only moved about a foot forward in the last 2 weeks." Scourge laid back in the bed and gave an exhausted sigh.

"Lets not talk about the war. I hate the thought of it." He smiled, forgetting all his kingly duties and more on the hedgehog next to him.

"Okay." he pulled Sonic in for another kiss, when knock came at he door. With a growl of annoyance he opened to door to find Mephiles just outside. Sonic paled and his eyes grew wide. He whimpered slightly and slowly crept off the bed and away from the advisor's gaze and into the bathroom, hoping Scourge wouldn't let him in.

"I thought I said I was taking the evening off." Scourge growled with a growing anger.

"I know Sire, but there are things that still need to be taken care of."

"It can wait till tomorrow." Then he shut the door on an arguing Mephiles. As Scourge sighed heavily in frustration, he blinked in surprise as he looked around the large room.

Where did Sonic go??A bit of a pained whimper came from the bathroom. Found you.

"You okay Sonikku?" Scourge opened the door and saw his mate curled up in a corner, looking scared to death. Sonic turned to his mate and the king could see the tears that fell from his eyes.

"I'm...I'm fine," Sonic sniffled, wiping away the tears.

"Sonic? Please tell me what's wrong?"

"It's...just a bad memory, that's all..." the young male mumbled, curling his arms around his knees and looking at the wall.
'Why won't he tell me what's really wrong?' Scourge pulled his terrified mate into a consoling hug.

Sonic was grateful for his husband, he truly was. He just wished that something could be done about his advisor, though.

"Come on." Sonic gave a quick yelp as Scourge quickly picked him up bridal style. "Lets go back to bed." Once they were settle back in bed with Sonic wrapped in Scourge's arms, was lost deep in thought and simply enjoying his mate's company. He wanted to tell his mate about his advisor, he just hoped that Scourge wouldn't get mad...so he mustered up the courage to finally tell him.

"Scourge?" he said in a whisper. His husband's ear perked at the mere whisper.

"What is it Sonikku?" Big pools of scared emerald eyes stared up at him.

"I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" the king asked.

Sonic swallowed nervously. "It...it's about your advisor..."

"Mephiles? He may look scary, but he's the only one around that can give good advice."

Now Sonic really didn't want to talk. Mephiles had been around longer and had his husband's complete trust.Sonic looked slightly disappointed and hurt at that. So, he decided to just forget about it.

"N-nevermind, just forget that I ever said anything..." he sighed.

"Don't worry about him."Sonic closed his eyes sadly and nodded. He was so close!!
