Sonic's Alpha Part 6

"TAILS!!!" Sonic shouted, bursting into Tail's workshop.

"GAH!!" Tails jumped with surprise, hitting his head underneath the Tornado since he was giving it new upgrades.

"Darn it, Sonic, will you stop doing that!?" the kitsune shouted, sliding from underneath the plane and rubbing his head.

"Oops, sorry bro," Sonic apologized as he help the fox stand.

"Oww, I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't end up with a brain hemorrhage because of you," he groaned, rubbing the sore area even more.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sorry," he said quickly. "Listen, what do you know about vampires?"

Tails blinked. "Vampires? What the heck do you want to know about vampires for?" he replied, raising a brow. Sonic sweat dropped and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Uh, you know, heh…I uh, just saw this…new…movie. Yeah, movie!! I just saw this new movie about vampires the other night and I'm a big fan all of a sudden!" he lied, laughing sheepishly.

"Uh-huh," Tails merely said, not buying his story one bit. He could easily tell when Sonic was lying, but he decided to let it drop.

"Well, I know just about as much as the next guy but…" he wondered, trailing off as he thought.

"Do you even think they exist?" he asked.

"No, I don't think they exist," Tails replied.

Sonic sighed with relief, but he celebrated too soon.

"I know they exist," the kitsune added.

"What!? H-how?" he stammered. So all that's been going on really wasn't his imagination.

"Well, I have been doing a little bit of research on them lately," he replied, walking over to his work station, finding his laptop buried underneath paperwork and blueprints.

Sonic just blinked. 'Well, that was convenient.'

"What do you mean?"

"Do you remember all those people that went missing over the past few months?"

"Yeah…" he replied, not liking where this was going.

"They were found," Tails responded. "But, the authorities tried to cover up what happened to them," he said as he typed away at his keyboard, his eyes glued to the screen.

"What are you doing?" Sonic asked, leaning over his shoulder to get a better look.

"Hacking into the police station's mainframe," he merely replied.

"Wat da freak!?!? Tails, what the hell is wrong with you!? Do you know how much trouble we'd be in if we got caught!?" Sonic panicked.

"Aaannnddd….I'm in!!"

"Full screen, please."

As the kitsune resumed his hacking, he said, "I found it strange that each case was now considered 'unsolved'. And I found out why."

Sonic listened intently as his brother continued, "So far there are 27 individual deaths and each victim died the same way, Sonic." Tails opened up one file after the other, revealing evidence from each crime scene. It was a good thing that Sonic hadn't eaten breakfast that morning; otherwise he would have puked it up by now. Each picture was gruesome and gut-wrenching. Every missing person, human or Mobian, all had been brutally murdered, some with dismembered limbs and some with their stomachs slashed open with their intestines splayed out all over the ground.

But they all had one thing in common, two bite marks to the neck and from the information provided in the files, they'd all been drained of their blood.

"Oh, my god," Sonic whispered in horror.

"And that's not all," Tails added, pulling up yet more information.

"When they checked the crime scenes for such things as fingerprints and DNA, they found plenty all over the victims. But, when they checked their sources, the evidence belonged to people that have been dead for at least a hundred years or more!!"

"WHAT THE F***!?!?" Sonic couldn't believe this!!!

"Sonic, I think something very wrong is going on here," Tails commented, his voice full of worry.

Sonic was in the midst of a panic-attack, but when he heard the concern in the kitsune's voice, he quickly composed himself.

"Ah, don't worry, bro!" he smiled, giving him his famous smirk and thumbs-up. "Everything is going to be fine, trust me!!"

"Are you sure?" Tails asked with uncertainty.

"Hey, they don't call me Sonic the Hedgehog for nothing!" he bragged, puffing his chest out with pride, right before he ruffled up the fox's hair.

"Hey, quit it!" he laughed, his worries gone just like that, as he tried to fix his hair.

Sonic smiled. He didn't want to get his brother into this mess. Heck, he still wanted to know how he got in it himself!! As long as Tails was smiling, he didn't have to know anything about what went on last night.

'Last night….,' Sonic rubbed his chin in deep thought as he tried to remember all that went on last night. Everything came flooding back to him in an instant and he blushed as red as a traffic light when he realized what he and a…certain king…were in the process of doing.

"Sonic…Soonniiicc….SONIC!!!" he was snapped from his thoughts when he heard Tails' voice.

"Huh?? What did you say?" he blinked.

"I said did you have any luck catching the guys who stole the chaos emeralds from the museum last night?" he asked again, wondering what the heck he was blushing about.

"OH, CRAP, I FORGOT!!!" he screamed, pulling at his head quills.

"Hey, bro, calm down!"

"No, Tails, you don't understand. I know where they are! I have to go get them!!"

"What, where?"

"I don't know the place exactly, but I'll know it when I see it," he answered.

"Well, maybe I can help you look and - -"

"NO!!!" he screamed, making Tails blink. He cleared his throat. "I mean, no, I shouldn't take too long. I'll be back before you know it," he sweat dropped as he made his way out of the workshop.

"Well, if you say so," Tails replied. "Oh, and Sonic?"

"Yeah, Tails?" he asked, looking over his shoulder at his younger brother.

"Come back," the kitsune answered his face full of worry and concern.

"I will bro." A sad smile showed on the azure hero's face as he nodded his goodbye and rocketed out of the workshop, hoping that he could keep, and live up to, his word.

Sonic the hedgehog was zipping through the streets of Station Square once again, happy that he now had his gut full of some of the best chili dogs around. But, his main focus was on what he had just found out.

'Okay, lemme see if I got this straight,' he thought as he ran.  '(1) Vampires DO exist and are led by an Alpha named Shadow. (2) They are responsible for all the people that have gone missing and their deaths. (3) They have two Chaos Emeralds, but I don't know for what reasons. And (4) what does all that have to do with me???' he wondered.

Flashback….

"Do you even realize why you have been brought here tonight?"

"No... why?"

"Because I wanted to see my mate..."

After the kiss…

"I don't understand any of this."

"You will in due time, my love."

End flashback…

Sonic blushed at the remembrance and wondered what did Shadow mean. 'Why did he say that I was his mate? His love? Why did I let him kiss me? Why did I kiss back and why did I like what he was doing to me? Am I gay? Why didn't he bite me? What will I understand in due time?'

Sonic was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't see the gigantic metal foot in his path until the last minute.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!!" he yelped, skidding to a stop. He looked up to see none other than a very ticked-off Eggman.

"Egghead, didn't I just kick your butt yesterday!? What do you want!?" he yelled up to the doctor. He had no time for him today, he had to get going.

"You know full well what I am after, hedgehog!!" Dr. Eggman yelled back from high within another egg-shaped robot.

"What are you talking about!?"

"I want what is rightfully mine, you thief! GIVE ME BACK MY CHAOS EMERALD!!!" the professor shouted his face red and his brow sweaty from shouting.

"Your emerald!? What are you talking about, I don't have your - -" Sonic cut his own self short with another flashback from last night.

Flashback…

Sonic blinked, "Wait a minute, you have super speed, too!?"

Scourge was gone in an emerald streak and 15 seconds later, had the red Chaos Emerald in his hand.

"That answer your question?" he asked tossing the gem in the air.

Sonic's mouth hit the ground for the umpteenth time that night. That's the one that Eggman had!!

End Flashback…

Sonic blinked and could've slapped himself. 'That makes three Emeralds that they have!!!'

Then he thought about what Eggman said. "Wait a second, you thought that I stole that Emerald?" he snickered.

"Of course! Who else could it have been!?!?" the doctor fumed.

"Dude, that wasn't me!" the hedgehog doubled over with laughter. "And I don't look anything like that guy!!"

"What guy?" Eggman asked, raising a brow. "Who are you talking about?"

Sonic instantly stopped laughing. "Uh…nobody?" he lied sheepishly.

"You see! That just proves that you are the culprit!!" he shouted from the cockpit, pointing at him accusingly.

"Listen to me, you fat piece of crap!!!" Sonic shouted back with twice as much rage. Eggman actually blinked, never expecting to have Sonic snap so easily.

"I had a very weird evening last night and an even crazier morning!! I'm a very busy guy, which means that I have places to go and things to do. I don't have time to put up with your bulls*** right now! So F*** OFF!!!" Sonic growled, showing his small hedgehog fangs.

A supersonic boom was all that was left of Sonic the Hedgehog, leaving a few shocked onlookers behind, along with a very dumbstruck and speechless Dr. Eggman.
