What More Could He Ask For - 1

Shadow glared at a young scouting wolf that burst into his den. The younger wolf--he thought he could recall--was named Tails. Bah, what a stupid name. "What is it you want?" Shadow growled and inwardly smiled in satisfaction as Tails shook in slight fear. "We found a wolf...he smells like he's from Scourge's pack. He was badly wounded and deep in our hunting territory. Mephiles and Knuckles took him to Amy so he could get help. Amy...told me to tell you to come to her..." Tails spoke in a fearful voice. His Alpha wasn't the nicest of souls. Even his younger brother Mephiles was better tempered, but both seemed vile to him. With another low growl of annoyance Shadow hefted himself off the ground and pushed past Tails, out of his den and toward the den of Amy who just so happened to be the healer of his pack. Though the stupid female often got on his last nerve. Especially now.

Sonic had came to a few minutes ago, disappointed that he was still in the land of the living. How much more suffering could he take? Just then, he picked up the scent of a nearby wolf, a powerful Alpha from the smell of it. 'Please... not again,' he begged silently as he could feel the other wolf approach. He remained as still as possible, not even opening his eyes as the other sniffed him. And he couldn't help the pained whine escape his lips as he was moved so that the healer could get to his other wounds. They'd unknowingly placed him on the side where his ribs were broken. The azure had to keep from screaming in pain as he continued to play unconscious, silently wondering where was he.

As Shadow sniffed the wolf he took note that he had been Scourge's Beta. The poor wolf was a pretty blue color and Shadow had seen nothing like him before. He heard a whine come from the wolf and he curiously went to the blue male's face, "Open your eyes--you aren't fooling anyone." He growled. He had asked everyone--Amy, Mephiles, and Knuckles--to wait outside.


Lying on his wounded side was starting to be a bit much on the Beta, making him have a harder time breathing. His soft whimpers only seemed to increase the more his awakening body seemed to make known each and every pain on his battered body.

The blue male tensed when he found out that his cover was blown. So, with a pained wince, he hesitantly opened his eyes.

Shadow's deep and fiery crimson eyes bore into Sonic's emerald ones. He was already cranky about being woken in the middle of his nap only to run out into the deep snow to deal with a problem that shouldn't be his own. On top of that--he hated being tricked or deceived. Even futile and failed attempts at it pissed him off. "Speak your name, and rank." He growled.


The blue male flinched at the tone, backing away slightly from the other male before managing to answer, "S-Sonic...uke and f-former Beta to Alpha Scourge's pack..."

To Shadow that was quite a curious answer. There weren't many ukes in the wolf world to make it to Beta ranking. It somewhat impressed him actually. "That is a..curious answer, Sonic." Shadow stated his tone losing the aggitation and anger becoming only bleak and bored, "Might I ask what were you doing on MY territory?"

Sonic swallowed thickly before answering honestly, "My...my Alpha and my pack betrayed me. They chased me away from the only home I've ever known..."

And what worried the blue male the most, that he didn't mention to the new Alpha, what truly broke his heart, was that there was no way that his unborn pup would have survived the attack. He'd been carrying for a little over a month, which meant that he wasn't showing yet, but the heartache was still there. The first time mother had lost his pup long before he had chance to see it. There was no point in telling this Alpha as well, since it was none of his concern. So, he quietly closed his eyes and lay his head back down on the ground and pinning his ears to his skull, showing his submission n trying his best to will away his tears.

"How unfortunate for you," Shadow said still sounding bored. Why was this stupid uke so nerveous and scared? He kept whimpering and it was annoying as hell. "So, Sonic...why did your pack betray you? I'm almost certain they wouldn't be so...drastic for no reason." Although he did sound like he could care less he'd asked the question anyway.

Sonic swallowed the lump in his throat and tried to calm down although he was still nervous, hoping that the ebony male wouldn't detect the strong scent of a failed pregnancy on him.

"I..." he paused before confessing, "I rejected my Alpha's request at being his mate."

Shadow sat beside the blue male, curiousity filled him. "Then why are you a month pregnant?" He asked. How could he miss the stench of such a thing coming from the male? It would've been impossible to ignore. Although, he did know that however many pups had been in the uke were dead now. They couldn't survive this.

Sonic's eyes instantly grew wide and he looked scared to death of the ebony wolf, for Alphas killed any pups (and their mothers) that belonged to a rival Alpha's pack.

"Please..." he begged as he began to choke up, "You have to understand. My former Alpha took advantage of me when he saw that I was never going to accept being his mate. He said...if he couldn't have me then no one would...And since there wasn't an Alpha female in our pack, so he turned to me...but..." he bowed his head and continued, "By the time I found out that I was carrying...he'd already found another mate, a female named Fiona. And when word got out that I was carrying his pups, he..." the male broke down into tears, "He said that I'd had my chance...and that it was too late to explain. He then sent the whole entire pack out to kill me, even going so far as attacking me himself even though he knew that I was expecting....."

The broken hearted male whispered the last few words to no one in particular, "But now it's too late..."

Of course Shadow saw Sonic's fear of him and it somewhat pleased him. Seeing others fear him made him feel powerful--even though he already knew well enough that he was so. He tried to look at this situation through the blue wolf's eyes, but it seemed hard enough. Under normal circumstances he would have this stupid wolf killed just for being-you know-stupid. But...something about Sonic made him curious.

"Of course...under normal circumstances I'd kill you, but..." he paused looking down at the male with slight disgust, "I'm in an unfortunate good mood so you may live. You can stay here until winter is over. That is all. Also, do not speak to others what you have told me." He growled out before leaving, he spoke with Amy before returning to his den. Unable to sleep he just thought of all his troubles at the moment--lack of food, cold...and now-Sonic.

To say that the ebony Alpha scared him was an understatement. Sonic had never felt so bad before in his life: his pack turned on him, he'd been raped, he'd lost his pups, this Alpha was scary, he was severely wounded and in excrutiating pain despite the healer's help, and now he felt sick to his stomach.

Said male sighed with relief that Shadow didn't question him any further. He didn't know if he'll be able to answer anything else. At that, he looked at his belly and sighed heavily as his heart dropped. He lay his head back down and closed his eyes, letting the long held-back tears fall this time.


Shadow growled with frustration--what had he done? He was already running low on food for his own pack--which was small as it was--but know he had a depressed uke to deal with. "Damn myself..." He grumbled-highly upset. Why did he hate his desicion after he had been the one to make it? Amy had--of freaking course--yelled at him for deliberately scaring the "Poor little guy!". He thanked her by not alloting her any dinner or breakfast for the next day.

Soon the entire pack went on about their daily business, with a few curious wolves wanting to see who the new wolf in the pack was. But at Meph's and Shadow's orders, no one was to disturb the young male as he rested. And with everything that'd gone on so suddenly in his life, Sonic needed all the help he could get.
