Sonic's Alpha Part 32

It had been a few weeks since little Crystal was born and everyone was ecstatic at the birth of the new Beta.

Everyone but a certain Alpha, that is.

Sonic had been on edge since his panic attack and Shadow had yet to leave his side. His dark mate held him in a loving embrace, but an uneasy feeling had been looming over him over the last couple days.

"Sonikuu, you need to eat something," Shadow sighed after he offered his mate lunch, only for him to turn it down.

"I'm not hungry, Shadow," Sonic mumbled as he pushed the tray away, turning over in bed with his back to his husband. Shadow sighed in frustration, for Sonic had been keeping this up for the past four days, but decided to let it slide for now.

"Sonikuu, if you don't eat something, you'll be depriving the pups of all the nutrients that they need to grow."

Shadow could actually see Sonic tense at the mere mention of their children, but he remained quiet.

"Alright," he sighed as he carefully sat down beside his pregnant uke. "Do you at least want to think of names for them since we only have three more weeks before they get here?"

Sonic merely looked over his shoulder at his seme with a blank expression. "What, what's wrong?" Shadow asked, raising a brow.

Said male groaned in frustration as he sat up, saying, "Shadow, can we try to change the subject, please?"

Shadow blinked in confusion, "But…why? What for?"

"Nothing," Sonic huffed as he swung his legs over the side and tried to stand. "Just forget that I ever said anything."

Right when he was about to stand, Sonic was grabbed by the arm and quickly pulled back down to bed.

"Alright Sonic, I have had enough of your attitude lately," Shadow frowned, for he was truly fed up. "So, I will only ask you one more time: What is wrong with you?"

And queue the mood swings.

"Let go of me!!" Sonic shouted as he snatched his arm out of his husband's grip. "Have you ever thought that I may want to talk about something besides the pups for once!?"

"But, you don't care about me at all anymore!" he cried, bloodied tears streaming down his face. "All you seem to care about are your kids!! You don't give a damn about me!! So no, I'm not answering your question, because you wouldn't understand!"

"I would if you'd just tell me!" Shadow shouted, grabbing him by the arm again to keep him from storming out of the room.

"I said I'm not telling you and that's final!!" Sonic hissed, trying to squirm his way out of Shadow's grip.

"Sonic, quit being so stubborn and tell me," Shadow said, as he tightened his grip on his hormonal mate, making Sonic flinch slightly.

"Why can't you just leave me alone!?" Sonic cried, mostly this time because of how strong Shadow's grip was on him.

"I won't leave you alone until you tell me because I want to help!!"

For Sonic, the emotions that he had kept bottled up inside were just too much.

"I'm scared, are you happy now!?!?" he screeched at the top of his lungs, finally giving up. "I'm scared, Shadow; I'm afraid because I don't know what is going to happen and I'm jealous of you!!! You will never have to suffer and go through all the pain that I'll have to bear! And I'll have to endure this four times!! Just hearing Silver scream when he gave birth to Crystal made me panic; so how the HELL do you think I'll act when it's actually happening to me!?!?!?"

By then, Sonic was on the floor, having slipped out of his husband's grip with his face buried in his hands, crying his heart out. And Shadow could see the bruises already forming on his arms from where he'd held him too tight.

"Sonic, I - -" he began, reaching out to touch his overly stressed-out mate.

"DON'T F****** TOUCH ME!!!" Sonic screamed, slapping his hand away. "Just get away from me, Shadow! Just get away and leave me alone….please," he begged as he curled up in a ball, his hands coming to rub at his heavily bruised and sore arms.

To say that Shadow was heartbroken was an understatement. All he'd wanted was to know what was wrong. But, he'd found out in the most horrible of ways, by scaring and hurting his mate. With a hurt sigh, Shadow carefully moved around his trembling mate and with one last look to his love, he slowly left the room to at least give Sonic that comfort.

When Sonic finally heard the door to their bedroom close, he let all his emotions out by throwing things and screaming before staggering and sliding down the corner of a wall, panting heavily to curl up on the floor and whimper even more.

But, this time, the whimpers were because of the slight cramps that were starting to come from his lower abdomen and pelvic area.

At G.U.N. Headquarters….

"You wanted me, Commander?" asked Rouge the Bat as she sauntered into the man's office.

"As a matter of fact, I did, Rouge," said the silver haired human with the multi-colored eyes. "You're just the person I wanted to see."

Rouge crossed her arms over her chest and listened as the man continued. "You and a certain Knuckles the Echidna have a rather personal relationship together, am I right?"

The white bat's face instantly turned pink with a blush, her eyes wide.

"W-what do you mean?" she managed to ask.

"Knuckles the Echidna is the Guardian of the Master Emerald, is he not?"

"Yes," she replied, wondering where he was going with this.

"Well, I have reason to believe that that Emerald is the key to finding out the hideout of those wretched creatures of the night."

"You mean those vampires that you and your ancestors have been hunting down for centuries?" she asked with a hint of boredom in her voice.

"Exactly!" he said, standing up from his large office desk. All the white bat could do was roll her eyes in annoyance as she mumbled, "Here we go again."

"For as long as I can remember, my ancestors have been at war with the vampire clan," he said as he gazed out his huge office window with his hands behind his back. "And with the information that my family has passed down from generation to generation, I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way that we can locate their secret lair."

"And what would that be?" Rouge asked with little interest as she filed her nails.

"Vampires all have a chaotic pulse which acts as a heartbeat for their kind. With the help of the Master Emerald we will be able to locate where a large amount of Chaos energy is that aren't the Chaos Emeralds and that would pinpoint our location to a Vampiric hideout."

"So, you want me to ask Knuckles to let you borrow the M.E. so that you can go on a vampire treasure hunt?" she asked, to sum up what he wanted.

"I don't care if you have to steal that overgrown gem from your boyfriend," the human frowned with a slight hint of obsession in his tone. "Bring that Emerald to me. And the Guardian as well; only Knuckles is able to understand the Master Emerald's powers, so he may prove useful in our findings. This war with the vampires has been going on for long enough. It is time to end this."

With her assignment given, Rouge immediately left the room and took to flight to complete the task at hand.

The G.U.N. Commander stood, gazing out the window once more, only this time there was a triumphant smirk on his face.

Back at the Land of Shadows...

Shadow walked out in the woods of his territory, trying to clear his mind. So much was going on right now with him and his queen, and it was all going wrong. His mate seemed on edge ever since Silver's birth, but he knew what he would have to do in order to bring their pups into the world; he'd known that from the beginning, so why was he freaking out now!? And it's not like he could have a C-sections because most vampire pups died from those!

Shadow ran his claws through his quills with frustration when his ears perked to hear panting. He whipped his head around to see Scourge running up to him!

"Scourge? What the heck are you doing back? You're supposed to be on the warfront," Shadow wondered, raising a brow.

Scourge panted with his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath, saying, "This…this is the warfront."

Shadow blinked as Scourge looked at him with complete shock and worry in his eyes.

"G.U.N. has found our location, Shadow. They'll be here within the hour."

"WHAT!?!?" the Alpha king shouted in disbelief, suddenly on full alert.

And then, his eyes grew wide as his whole world came crashing down on him.

"Oh, my God…" he whispered as he shot off towards the palace in a crimson streak.

He'd just heard his pregnant mate scream out his name through their mental connection.
